Fighting The Battle Within
How many of us battle with struggles within ourselves? Whether it is depression, stress, insecurities… etc. Can you even imagine the battles veterans go through within themselves, especially when returning home? They were just at war for months being deployed and away from their families. When returning home, although they do have the comforts of their family and friends, they also return home with battles within themselves. They have seen and dealt with circumstances that we can hardly even imagine. They do it for us. They fight for our country. Does that mean they need to suffer when returning home?
1 out of every 5 veterans that serve in Iraq and Afghanistan get diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) along with 20 % of combat veterans commit suicide. Chad Robichaux, a combat veteran, author of “Redeployed” , an MMA fighter was diagnosed with PTSD after returning home from war. Although he struggled through this battle, he triumphed through PTSD through the help of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ). Chad started an organization called the Mighty Oaks Foundation that helps combat veterans through the struggles he went through (PTSD).
“The Mighty Oaks Warrior Training Division is a division of the Roever Foundation’s standing commitment to mending the brokenhearted of our nation with a specific calling to help America’s wounded veterans and their families. It is our goal to help these heroes find a new life purpose after enduring hardship through their service to our great country. Programs of the division focus on a Spiritual Based Healing to the heart of the warrior; along with training them in reintegration skills through training at our ranches. The Mighty Oaks’ programs focus on dealing with Combat Trauma, Men’s Character, and Family Support for Combat Trauma Spouses and Family Members.” -The Mighty Oaks Foundation
Chad Robichaux, will be coming to Gracie Barra San Clemente to do a donation based seminar (suggestion of $35) on how to fight post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) through Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. This is a great opportunity to meet Chad personally and see how he recovered from PTSD. To help support our community of veterans and the battle they return to, Gracie Barra Dana Point & San Clemente will be fundraising a goal of $5,000. All proceeds will go The Mighty Oaks Foundation. If there is one thing we can do for our veterans, is to be a part of their healing process. By partnering with the Mighty Oaks Foundation, we can make a difference in a Veterans life as well as their families.
