It all starts by giving each student something to strive for. The belt system summed up with a culture that rewards good behavior and advanced skill level, do a phenomenal job in giving the kids the simple goals.
Secondly, professors and coaches become their mentors to help each student achieve their goals being a new belt, a good take down, or a specific self defense technique. They make the students undertand that it is worth it to sacrifice time wasted wacthing TV or playing video game to be in class and make progress towards the goal they have committed to.
Thirdly, the peer pressure creates a very positive tention in which all students tend to gravitate towards the behavior of the best student.
This 3 steps process happens daily with each one of our children and simply means they are using discipline to control their habits and behaviors for the achievement of a higher purpose.
